How to calculate fragrance load in candles

Good math helps, but weak throw usually comes from the full recipe rather than the percentage alone.

If the jar smells quiet, check cure time, wick size, pour temperature, and vessel width before jumping straight to a heavier load.

When the candle still feels flat

  • Give the batch the full cure window for that wax.
  • Check whether the wick is wide enough to open the melt pool.
  • Make one change at a time so the result is readable.
  • Move from 8% to 9% only when the wax and oil can actually carry it.
